Expedited Processing
| Expedite fee | Paid per application, in addition to required fees. Provides faster processing than routine service. Our passport office cannot process for Life-or-Death Emergency Service or Expedited at an Agency or Center. We can only process expedited applications as defined here. Include this fee in the total amount of the check or money order made out to the “U.S. Department of State”. See Processing Times. | $60 |
| 1-2 day delivery | Paid per application for 1-2 day delivery of an issued Passport Book from the Department of State to the customer. Only available for Passport Book applicants in the United States (not Canada). This service is NOT available for Passport Card applicants. Passport cards are sent via First Class Mail. Include this fee in the total amount of the check or money order made out to the “U.S. Department of State”. | $19.53 |
| Example: If ordering an adult Passport Book, Passport Card, Expedited Service, and 1-2 Day Delivery, the check or money order made payable to the “U.S. Department of State” would be for $239.53 (130 + 30 + 60 + 19.53) and the check or money order made payable to the “UI Passport Office” would be for $35. | ||
Payment Methods
Two separate checks/money orders are required.
- One check/money order payable to the “U.S. Department of State” covers any Passport Book, Passport Card, Expedited Service, and 1-2 Day Delivery fees.
- One check/money order payable to the “University of Iowa Passport Office” covers the $35 execution fee.
Notes
- Money orders/cashier's checks are issued through banks, U.S. post offices, and many grocery stores.
- If more than one person is applying (i.e. mother and her child), we need separate application and execution fee payments for each person.
